Nikki lives in a wonderful part of the country on the Dorset/Somerset border. The South West is well known for inspiring many artists, filmmakers and writers with its stunning scenery..
As a teenager Nikki painted and sketched seascapes/ wildlife. In later life she was taught to knit by her Grandmother and this love for yarn and creating your own textiles has developed. Nikki has had a lifelong interest in Arts,Crafts and Design and loves exploring new ideas.
She studied interior decorative techniques and packaging design but most of her working life has been based in the fashion industry. Her 24 shaft manual dobby loom has totally changed her life, her husband's life and her home..... most rooms now show signs that she is a weaver- in the kitchen there is often wool being dyed in a big pot - the guest room no longer exists as its now a wool store and Loom room, even the gravity walker has become a wool winder!
Nikki loves the possibilities of weaving, as there are so many different variants that can be created by just changing a colour or a thread or a pattern- every new piece is exciting and unique.
She is proud to be a member of the Dorset Guild of Weavers, Spinner and Dyers.
